FAQ
Answers to common questions about projection mapping, how a quote is built, and how to book.
What is projection mapping?
Projection mapping, also called video mapping, uses projectors to display custom visuals onto the exact shape of a surface such as a building, stage, sculpture, or room. The image is fitted to the architecture instead of a flat screen, so edges, windows, and details become part of the design.
How much does projection mapping cost?
Most projects run from about $1,500 for a small event to $150,000 or more for large building projections. Every project is quoted individually, because the surface, the equipment, the content, and the schedule all change the price.
See our projection mapping cost and pricing guide for typical starting points, rental rates, and what moves the price.
Where is Denver Projection Mapping based?
Denver Projection Mapping is based in Denver, Colorado. We don't have a public office, so the best way to reach us is by email or through the contact form. We work across Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and the Front Range.
Do you travel outside Colorado?
Yes. We're available to travel nationwide for large-scale events, music festivals, art installations, and specialty projection mapping projects.
Who runs Denver Projection Mapping and when was it founded?
Denver Projection Mapping was founded in 2022 by Joel Rekiel, who leads concept development, animation, 3D design, and technical setup, supported by a network of technicians and designers.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry insurance for events and installations. If your venue has specific insurance requirements, tell us when you request a quote.
What do you need from me to get a quote?
Tell us the date, the venue, and the surfaces you want to cover. It also helps to know whether the project is indoors or outdoors, whether it's a one-day event or a longer installation, and whether you'll provide content or want us to create it from scratch. The best way to reach us is the contact form or by email.
How is a projection mapping quote calculated?
A quote is built from the number of surfaces and the area to cover, the throw distance, and how many projectors and which lenses it takes to cover the area. It also reflects labor and crew size for the install window, whether custom enclosures or builds are needed, whether the project is indoor or outdoor, and whether content is provided or created from scratch. Site visits and measurements, pre-production and planning, and install and event days are part of the total. For multi-day fixed installations, it also depends on whether the show is automated and controlled remotely or run with a technician on site.
For typical starting points and rates, see our pricing guide.
Do you offer projection mapping rentals?
Yes. Our rental packages include high-output projectors, media servers, lenses and rigging, playback systems, and onsite setup and operation. They suit one-night events, weddings, corporate galas, and pop-up exhibits.
