Independence Plaza Projection Mapping is a free public projection installation in the heart of downtown Denver, created by Denver Projection Mapping with funding from the Dynamic Downtown Denver Grant Program.
Denver Projection Mapping was one of 27 community grantees chosen from more than 100 applications for the program's spring activations. The program, announced by Mayor Mike Johnston, the Downtown Denver Partnership, and Denver Arts & Venues, funds free events produced by the Denver community that celebrate the city's arts, culture, and history.
The installation was also presented as part of SPARK, the Denver Theatre District's after-dark light and projection program, which uses projection to fill temporarily empty downtown spaces with light. The artwork at this location was created by Joel Rekiel of Denver Projection Mapping, with windows provided by Independence Plaza.
